The Sludge Judge is designed to take accurate readings of settled solids, 5% or less, in a variety or liquids, to any depth. It is ideal for sweage treatment plants, chemical plants, and food processing facilities - anywhere the accurate sample levels of settled solids in noncaustic materials are needed. The unit holds approximately 3 oz. per foot, 89 ml per 0.31 m. The Sludge Judge comes in 5 ft., 1.53 m sections of 3.4" 1.90 cm plastic pipe with screw-type connectors. The top section includes a nylon line for raising and lowering the sampler. Individual sections can be combined as required to achieve the length needed. Do not use the liquids over 165° F, 74° C. A convenient cotton canvas carrying case, that holds four sections, a cleaning brush, a new cleaning rod, and cotton strips are available. (see below). |

To Use:
1. Slowly lower the Sludge Judge to the bottom of tank.
(A.) The float valve opens, allowing materials to flow in. When the bottom has been reached and the pipe has filled to the surface level, tug slightly on the rope as the unit is raised.
(B.) This sets the check valve, trapping the misture inside.
2. When the unit has been raised clear of the liquid, the amount of solids in the sample can be read using the 1 ft., 0.31 m increments marked on the pipe sections.
3. To release the material in the unit, touch the pin extending from the bottom section against a hard surface. This opens the check valve to drain the sample. |

For cleaning greasy residue from the Sludge Judge, this cleaning rod is designed to make the job go quick and easy. The 3/8", 0.93 cm solid aluminum, two-piece rod screws together giving 6 ft., 1.82 m of length, and the slot on the ends holds a thick cotton strip (sold separtely) in place. Slide the cloth up and down the tube using a mild detergent and warm water. Sh. wt. 0.94 lbs.
